Description

About me:

Austen was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, where he discovered weightlifting as a three-sport athlete. While competitive sports were always his main focus, Austen found that he loved being in the weight room and helping others push beyond their comfort zones. After recovering from knee surgery in 2017, at the age of 32, he began dieting and developed a passion for improving his physique with Coach Dan and Team Icon. This culminated in his first appearance on stage in NPC Men’s Physique, where he won his class. After three more years and five additional NPC Men’s Physique competitions, Austen achieved Pro status by winning his IFBB Professional Card in Men’s Physique, all while managing businesses and raising two wonderful children.

After trying his hand at the pro-competition, Austen stepped off the stage and discovered a passion for leading and helping others like him become the best versions of themselves, both physically and mentally, while balancing their busy lives and schedules. Austen enjoys working with individuals of all ages and all stations of life but his coaching resonates best with those that want to live healthier, fuller lives while also balancing having careers and children. As someone who undertook bodybuilding later in life, he understands best how to optimize people’s lives to make the most of their time and effort.

Expectations of the athlete

  1. Open Communication: For any coaching to work being open and transparent, no matter how uncomfortable, is a priority. We can’t get better together if we aren’t willing to communicate what’s happening.
  2. Effort: Consistently push yourself while giving your fullest effort. Leaving fuel in the tank for later always ends up causing a shortfall in the present. Try your hardest and push yourself physically and mentally.
  3. Be open to criticism and coaching: Being open to feedback will give you all of the tools you need to achieve your goals. Having an open mind and realizing we don’t know everything will make progress more attainable. Trust that we have your goals in mind at all stages of your progress.
  4. Accountability: Be on time with every check-in. For us to make the timely necessary adjustments to your plan  you must take this as seriously as possible and treat it as a priority.
  5. Patience: Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will your goal physique. The higher the climb the harder the work. Treat things day to day and take each 1% improvement as it comes.

Expectations of coach Austen

  1. Immediately after signing up with Austen, know that he is fully committed to seeing your success. The trust that you have shown will be treated as a gift and not taken lightly.
  2. Quick and Timely Responses: Your Check-In will not sit in Austen’s inbox for days at a time. Expect that Austen will communicate thoroughly and thoughtfully with you shortly after your check-in with actionable items.
  3. Expect to be pushed beyond your comfort zone. Austen will not treat you like a child and expect as much out of you as you expect out of yourself. Be prepared to push hard to get to your goals.

What to expect from coaching with Austen

  1. In depth nutritional guidance for lifestyle clients and bodybuilders
  2. Personalized macros- learning how to track and count macros will set you up for success in the long term.
  3. Specifically assigned macros with approved food sources. The list of food sources will often continue to adapt as it becomes clear which foods you digest most effectively and which ones support your highest level of performance.
  4. Resistance training programming for all levels of athletes. From new to experienced professionals, Austen will provide training protocols unique to each and intentionally designed to optimize your progress.
  5. Cardio protocols best suited to your current goals.
  6. Guidance on supplementation to maximize your health and performance. This will continue to evolve to fit your needs and goals.
  7. Weekly to Biweekly check-ins. Here you will provide progress pictures as well as detailed information regarding your biofeedback so that Austen can make any necessary adjustments to keep you on track. These check-ins will change in frequency based on your current status and objective.
  8. Expect Results. The greatest program in the world is still ineffective if the appropriate amount of effort is not instilled. Ultimately whether or not you get to where you want to be comes down to how hard you are willing to work. Austen will be the compass and continually guide you in the right direction but can not make you take action. Give this everything you’ve got, each and every day and you will make phenomenal change.
